It's Just Not Christmas Without You (In It)

about

The Heathen And The Holy are back! Some, including ourselves, thought it might not happen this year. Despite phenomenal public demand, Tom's iron-clad touring schedule in November and December made it look impossible that we would be able to bring you a song this year. But then a Christmas miracle! A few days suddenly became available last week and we were able to put this together for you, our 5th consecutive Christmas song, titled "It's Just Not Christmas Without You (In It)". This year's vibe is John Lennon meets William Shatner.

lyrics

Another year's over,
The next soon to start,
But first I must face the music and tell you
We'll spend Christmas apart.

You say it's only Christmas, (It's only Christmas)
And it's sad but it's fine, (It's fine)
If you go away, away for December,
This year won't end the way we had in mind.

I thought it would be a happy, joyful time,
I thought I would see a room of smiling faces and a glass of ginger wine,
I thought it would feel like it always did,
But it's just not Christmas without you in it.

What once smelt divine,
Now rots in the bin,
They say all things must pass,
So pass me the gin.

Pulling one's own cracker,
That's just not how it's done
And who wants to build a snowman on their own,
Or have a full roast turkey dinner for one?

I thought it would be a magical and rare time,
I thought I would see a room filled with laughter and a bottle of ginger wine,
I thought it would feel like it always did,
But it's just not Christmas without you in it.

It's snowing in Manhattan (London in the winter)
A picture-perfect scene (On Albert Bridge again)
There's rain in Philadelphia (Reminds me of an old song)
What does it all mean? (A song that we once penned)
Christmas in a strange place (These old familiar roads)
It never feels quite right (They feel so right they)
Take me back to Regent's Street,
To the Christmas lights tonight!

I thought it would be a jolly, jolly good time,
I thought I would see a room filled with mince pies and lots of ginger wine,
I thought it would feel like it always did,
But it's just not Christmas without you in it.

I thought it would be a-a-bloody good time!
I thought I would see a room chock with Christmas spirit and rivers of ginger wine,
I thought it would feel like it always did,
But it's just not Christmas without you in it,
No it's just not Christmas without you in it.
